Without any doubt, the most famous and most award-winning wine of our winery - previously known as Zlatan Plavac Grand Cru - is a wine of cult status, not only in Croatia but beyond. Wine that has a special place in our family for years and according to which we have a special approach and production process. For us, this is not just wine, but the most accomplished achievement of our father, the legacy that we cherish.
Zlatan Plavac Grand Select is made of carefully selected Plavac mali grapes that grow on steep southern slopes around Sveta Nedjelja village. These unique vineyards of up to 40% incline are surrounded by untouched nature, the vines grow in the area without industry and where no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used, and every work in the vineyard, including harvesting, is done manually.
In time of each harvest we make a selection of grapes and vineyards. We choose from the best parts of the oldest vineyards where vines are older than 35 years. After processing, wine ages for at least 2 years in French oak barrique barrels of 225 liters.
Zlatan Plavac Grand Select is a wine of exceptional qualities, dark ruby colour, expressive, beautiful scent, balanced alcohols and acidity. Rounded, full-body wine with rich and powerful but very elegant, velvety tannic structure. Wine of expressive and complex aromas like dark fruit, dalmatian herbs, tobacco, wood, vanilla, pepper. Impressive and sophisticated expression of Hvar terroir - like the finest silk in your glass, that leaves a long lasting, rich taste on the palate. Wine you will remember.
Gastro recommendation:
Hard cheese, premium steak, pašticada, brodetto or even dark chocolate. It is served at a temperature of 14 to 18°C.
